Our annual autumn pilgrimage to High Point is a busy time for us, but still, we can’t get enough of the hustle and bustle of fresh furniture finds and trends. Plus, the barbeque here isn’t too bad either. This season, the Hillsdale Team is spying a whole lot of great trends we’re getting excited about, so we’re going to share a few of our favorites from our own Showroom!
Small dining room sets are hot right now.
Apparently, everyone would prefer more intimate gatherings with family and friends this season, because we’re seeing a whole lot more four-seat sets than we’re accustomed to. We have a lot of great options in this wheelhouse at HDF, but one of our favorites this season is the Forest Hill Dining Collection. Refreshingly simple at first glance, the Forest Hill complements its traditional round table with modern details, like its distressed table top and Flex Back chairs.
Lots of love for light finishes.
Lighter finish hues are making a comeback, especially in the dining room. Where once the darker neutral colors reigned, we are now seeing brighter shades. Fortunately, we have a lot of their showroom too. The Clarion Dining Collection (conveniently, also a five-piece set for those who really want to be on trend), comes with chairs in a gorgeous white finish, and a round table with a lighter taupe, almost-metallic-hued tabletop.
Accent on baskets.
Organization with baskets looks a million times better than organizing with plastic bins and drawers. It’s just as efficient, and far more stylish. If you’re looking to add more baskets to your décorganization (yes, we made that word up) efforts, might we recommend the Signature Series Basket Collection, which features cool metallic baskets? The Signature Three-Basket Bath Stand is a wooden stand containing three roomy metallic baskets and one drawer, and really, you can put it anywhere in the house, not just the bathroom. (Though that may be where we personally need the most organizational help.)
Velvet isn’t just for fashion.
It’s also for furniture! We’ve seen a lot of velvet throughout the showrooms, and here at Hillsdale, you can find it in our beautiful Belize Bed, in a three gorgeous hues to accommodate a range of aesthetical preferences. We’re partial to the light gray, maybe because that also happens to be a favorite color for our closets too.
Youth is growing.
Our focus on our youth furniture collections continues to expand, and we’ve been continuing to merge in Hillsdale’s design aesthetic. This season, that’s meant mixed media, but the youth design we’re eyeing (for ourselves?) this season is the Oxford Collection. We love the look of raw wood—it feels very warm and inviting to us—but we don’t see it much for bedrooms, and even less often for youth collections. We think this allows it to grow up a bit more with the child.
If you’re High Point for market this month, be sure to stop by and say hello to the Hillsdale Team!
